Jill Warnock's studio is based in Dunsborough. She started off her career as a nurse working in an operating theatre assisting surgeons with all types of procedures. This field is such a highly disciplined and regimented area that once she retired Jill said it was time for her to explore her creative side that she had not really had the opportunity to do before.
Jill completed a course at TAFE learning painting and drawing techniques. She loved this so much that she went on to Curtin University where she completed a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Contemporary Art and Design.
Inspired by the natural beauty of the area in which she lives, Jill goes out into nature and constructs an installation where she builds up layers of the environment then takes a photograph of her installation which is transitory. Then she brings the photograph back to her studio and translates it onto different surfaces using her heat press. Her latest inspiration of works is stemmed by her concerns for the coral reefs and she has tried to depict them in her own abstract way.
