Gai Saunders is a visual artist who has been practicing for over 20 years.
Her work has been seen in numerous group exhibitions since her first solo exhibition in 1993.
She has been invited to collaborate, enter awards and complete private and corporate commissions.
She spent some time working in the public sector at Art Source in Fremantle representing Western Australia as an advocate, lobbyist and researcher for disadvantaged artists.
Gai has many years teaching experience including Visual Art Specialist.
She works in a variety of media often drawing from nature to illustrate thoughts, feelings and ideas.
Paintings depict a merging of real and imagined scenes while her assemblages made of found objects blur the boundaries of these two and three dimensional worlds.
This combination of visual approaches is often where a narrative between the mediums develops drawing inspiration from the natural environment yet exposing the wilderness within.
